Northwest Corridor

The Northwest Corridor is a neighborhood of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, located in the northwest portion of the city. This planned corridor connects key socioeconomic, commercial, industrial, and civic developments within the city and in the nearby suburbs of East Hempfield Township and Manheim Township over a distance of 1.5 miles (2.4 km). The Stadium District and the Northwest Gateway Project further separate the Northwest Corridor. Between Harrisburg Avenue and Lemon Street, a small rail route known as Northwest Corridor Linear Park comprises 0.26 miles (0.42 km) of urban green space. The Northwest Corridor is made up of two major thoroughfares that connect Lancaster County’s three most populous areas. Harrisburg Pike is the principal highway that connects Lancaster to the Park City Center retail mall, as well as East Hempfield to vital services and attractions inside the city boundaries. Prince Street links Lancaster to Manheim, a neighboring suburban community with major business and industrial growth. With the construction of Clipper Magazine Stadium in 2003, Lancaster County’s Redevelopment Authority anticipated a $75 million large-scale urban renovation of the Northwest Corridor. Franklin & Marshall College, a private liberal arts college, and Penn Medicine Lancaster General Hospital, a not-for-profit health system, are located in the Northwest Corridor. Following suit, Lancaster General Hospital and Franklin & Marshall College embarked on significant construction projects to expand their campuses northward. Franklin & Marshall purchased a dump and a defunct train yard that had previously been inhabited by Armstrong World Industries. Clipper Magazine Stadium, home of the Lancaster Barnstormers of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, is also located here. Clipper Magazine Stadium has 6,000 green, chair-back seats split onto two floors by a 360-degree concourse. The stadium has many food stands that offer Pennsylvania Dutch and Philadelphia cuisine. Kid’s Park, Cylo’s Clubhouse,  Little Slugger’s Dugout, Broken Bat Craft Beer Deck, and many more are the things you can enjoy in the Clipper Magazine Stadium. Shadek Stadium, the new home of the Franklin & Marshall Diplomats football team, opened in 2017 on the previous Armstrong site. In the Northwest Corridor, you can enjoy Linear Park, a 1.6-acre park. It’s a great spot to take a break, go for a walk, or perhaps go for a fast run before work. The Northwest Corridor Linear Park in Lancaster is a terrific site to come with your family or friends, and it has plenty of seats and green space. Northwest Corridor Linear Park is one of Lancaster’s smallest parks, but it’s still a terrific spot to enjoy the outdoors.
